CVChecker offers two main options to its clients: produce your own CV using a range of online tools, or have a bespoke CV written for you, by a professional writer. You can also have your CV reviewed, request cover letters and other documents, with options to spread the cost over an agreeable period of time.

The services available on this site are on the more expensive end of the scale. Whilst most CV writing services will offer a free CV review, this site charges around £12 to have your CV examined with a follow-up discussion. It might be the case that time is money, and that some people might take advantage of a free service (taking the suggestions and then simply making changes for themselves) but this charge immediately makes CV Checker less of an enticing option from the get-go.

Once your CV has been assessed, you can choose to use the automated systems to help edit it or produce a new CV entirely. This is a step by step method, allowing you to easily insert text and facts, which can then be rearrange as you see fit. You have access to a variety of templates and tools, allowing you to personalise your document. You can even try out the online creation services for free, and preview your CV, but you won’t be able to download the file without payment. There are more than 800 set phrases to choose from if you’re not sure what to write or how to phrase it.

The site is confident in its ability to bring you CV success, claiming that the vast majority of its users are offered an interview within eight weeks. If you don’t receive an invitation for an interview, they will provide you with a free phone consultation to help you understand where you may be going wrong. Whilst some kind of compensation is nice, and this might get you back on track, you won’t receive a refund, so bear that in mind when considering this service based on their “guarantee”.

The other key option is to have a professional consultant produce your CV for you. The turnaround times can vary depending your CV and how busy they are, so it’s a good idea to ask about how long this might take when you talk things over with them. Written CVs aren’t cheap, with prices over £400 for some writing and consultation options. This means that CVChecker.com probably isn’t a particularly good option for students or other individuals who don’t have a lot of money to spend on their documents.

CVs are about selling yourself and making the right impression, which makes the appearance of this website a little surprising. At times it feels like a very amateurish site which is bland and a little poorly designed. Improvements could certainly be made to improve the “shop front” of this site and to instil a little more confidence in the client. 

Those things considered, previous clients have been happy with the documents produced and the success they’ve received, as is documented on the site’s testimonials pages. In addition, there are forums where you can ask for advice on writing CVs and applying for work. Whilst this site is more expensive than most, if you have the money to spend then it may be worth giving them a call to find out how they can help you.
